New California Pornography Law May Cause Industry to Leave State

Corollary to the Law – the Law of Unintended Consequences.

Lost in the Presidential election was this new law that was passed by the good citizens of California.

The law requires that adult-film productions obtain licenses from the county's health department and allows officials to conduct spot inspections of sets. Put forward by the AIDS Healthcare Foundation, the law is intended, in part, to curb the spread of sexually transmitted diseases.

Okay, that seems like a sensible measure, easy to understand, easy to put in place and something that results in the benefit for everyone concerned.  Oh wait, there is actual opposition.

Opponents say the measure will be expensive to implement and could drive productions to other states.

Well the “ expensive to implement” is certainly a mystery to all of us, but as far as driving the production of pornography to other states, well isn’t that a good thing if you live in California?
