Republican Accuse Democrats of Blocking Legislation by Massachusetts Sen. Scott Brown for Political Purposes – Then Block Nominee of Consumer Protection Agency

Republicans See No Inconsistency Here

Massachusetts Republican Senator Scott Brown is in a heated race for re-election with consumer advocate Elizabeth Warren.  Mr. Brown can only win if he can convince voters he is working on a bi-partisan basis, that is, that he is not really a Republican.  Now the report is that Democrats are deliberately blocking legislation sponsored by Brown.

Sen. Scott Brown says he has been stymied this year in his effort to build a record of bipartisan legislative successes — a problem Republicans blame on Democratic efforts to sink his 2012 re-election bid.

Senator John McCain is outraged that anyone would block legislation for partisan political purposes.

McCain said he has "no doubt" political considerations motivated Democrats to stall Brown's amendments.

"I don't know how you could draw any other conclusion. I've never seen anything quite like it," he said.

Now Mr. McCain may be correct that political considerations are at a play here, but to say he has never seen anything like this means that he has a peculiar form of blindness that does not allow him to see anything that the Senate Republicans have done.  Like this.

Senate Republicans made good on their threat to block President Barack Obama’s nominee to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau today if changes are not made to the way the agency is designed to operate.

And did Sen. McCain vote with the Republicans to block the nomination?  If you have to ask you have not been paying attention.
