Chris Christie Stiffs Poor School Districts; The Unemployed Can be Butlers . . .

And Other News That Needs Commenting On

The Great Hope of the Republican Party, Gov Chris Christie (R, NJ) did like many Conservatives and balanced the state budget by cutting funds from the poorest of its citizens.  Now a Court has ordered the Governor to restore $500 million to state funding for the poorest school districts.

Also in Business Week is a story about the boom in demand for butlers.  Yes, those wealthy taxpayers who are resisting a return to Clinton era tax rates for themselves are demanding more and more butler services.  See, Charles Dickens does live.

The New York Times reports on a hearing held by Rep. Patrick McHenry (R, NC) on the new Consumer Protection Agency, with Elizabeth Warren as the witness.

When Rep. McHenry could not get his way, he just adjourned the hearing.  There is no support to the rumor that he went away to stomp his feet and hold his breath until things were better.

The Washington Post Fact Checker finds New Gingrich’s story about his Tiffany’s debt not very credible.  Newt and No Interest Charge Account.  Either Mr. Gingrich did not tell the truth, or he got the kind of sweetheart deal you and I could ask for, and get turned down immediately.
